Genetec Security Center - Triton Cloud Integration
This guide walks through how to integrate Genetec Security Center with Triton Cloud using the Genetec Industrial IoT plugin. Once configured, Triton sensor events will trigger custom events and alarms directly in Genetec Security Center. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

What does this integration do?
When a Triton sensor detects an event (like vaping or aggression), Triton Cloud sends that alert to Genetec Security Center via the Industrial IoT plugin. This allows security operators to see Triton alerts as native events and alarms inside Genetec — alongside camera feeds, access control, and other security data — all in one platform.
What do I need before starting?
- Genetec Security Center — installed and licensed
- Genetec Industrial IoT Plugin — installed and licensed
- User permissions to configure the Industrial IoT plugin
- A Triton Cloud account with your sensors already added
- A firewall port forwarding rule that points to the IP address of the server running the Industrial IoT plugin over the HTTP port it is configured with. Triton Cloud's external IP address is 44.207.215.123 (whitelist this if your firewall restricts inbound connections by source IP)
Part 1: Verify the Industrial IoT Plugin License
- Open Genetec Security Center Server Admin.
- Click License.
- Confirm that the Industrial IoT license/certificate is present and active.
Part 2: Create the Industrial IoT Plugin Instance
- Log in to Genetec Config Tool with administrator credentials.
- Go to the Tasks tab → Administration section → click Plugins.
- Click the green plus (+) button to add a new plugin.
- Select Plugin as the type.
- Select Industrial IoT as the plugin type.
- The database server and database fields should auto-populate. Rename the plugin in the Basic Information tab if needed.
- Click Next, then Create to finish setting up the plugin role.
Part 3: Create and Configure an HTTP Connector
- In the Industrial IoT plugin settings, select the Protocols tab.
- Click HTTP Server.
- Click the green plus (+) button at the bottom of the HTTP connectors box.
- Enter a name for the connector (e.g., "Triton Integration").
- Copy the API Key — save this somewhere safe, as it cannot be recovered later. Also note the Port number.
- Click Add, then click Apply.
Part 4: Import the Triton Device Type
- Click on the Device Types tab.
- Download the Triton device type configuration file from this link.
- Open the downloaded file — it will import into the Config Tool.
- Click OK when prompted.
What about the warning messages after importing?
After importing, the Industrial IoT plugin will show warning indicators (yellow rules) on the Rules tab. This is expected — the imported rules need to be re-attached to the custom events and alarms in your specific Genetec system. Select each rule, assign the appropriate event and alarm, and click Apply. Once all rules are properly assigned, the warnings will disappear.
Part 5: Create a Device in Genetec
- Select the Devices tab in the Industrial IoT plugin.
- Click the green plus (+) button to add a new device.
- Enter a name for the device.
- Set the Type to HTTP Triton ULTRA Device Type.
- In the HTTP connector field, select the connector you created earlier (e.g., "Triton Integration").
- Enter the Triton Sensor Device ID — you can find this in your Triton Cloud account under the Devices page.
- Click Add, then click Apply.
- Repeat for each additional Triton sensor you want to integrate.
Part 6: Connect Triton Cloud to Genetec
- Log in to Triton Cloud and navigate to the Genetec integration page (or go directly to app.tritonsensors.com/client/integration?current=genetec).
- Enter the IP address of the server running the Industrial IoT plugin.
- Paste the API Key you copied earlier from the HTTP connector.
- Enter the Port number from the HTTP connector configuration.
- Optionally enable Receive Heartbeat if you want to receive device heartbeat data every 10 minutes.
- Click Save.
What about firewall configuration?
You will need a port forwarding rule on your firewall that directs traffic to the IP address of the server running the Industrial IoT plugin over the HTTP port you selected. If your firewall restricts by source IP, whitelist Triton Cloud's external IP: 44.207.215.123.
Part 7: Run a Test
- On the Genetec integration page in Triton Cloud, click Run Test.
- Select a device to test with — this must be the same device you added in the plugin earlier.
- Choose a trigger type from the dropdown. If no triggers appear, go back to the integration settings page and make sure you've selected and saved your desired event types first.
- Click Run Test.
- If successful, you'll see "Event successfully created." If not, troubleshoot based on the error message shown.
