How to Add a Floor Plan to a Triton ULTRA Sensor's RTSP Stream
You can upload a floor plan image to your Triton ULTRA sensor so it appears as the background of the RTSP occupancy stream. This gives security operators viewing the stream in a VMS a visual layout of the room with color-coded occupancy dots overlaid on top — making it much easier to understand where people are in the space. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

What do I need before starting?
- Firmware version 25.11.03.14 or later. This feature is only supported on newer firmware. Check the Firmware & Device Manager page for the latest version and update instructions.
- A JPG image sized exactly 792 x 604 pixels. The sensor will only accept this specific resolution. If your floor plan image is a different size, you'll need to resize it before uploading. You can hover over the image file in your file system to verify the dimensions.
Important — RTSP stream orientation: The orientation of the RTSP stream matches the orientation of the Triton logo on the sensor. When mounting the sensor, make sure the logo is facing the direction you want to appear at the top of the RTSP stream. Check the device placement/best practices guide for more on optimizing the occupancy visualization feature.
How do I upload a floor plan?
Step 1: Upload the image file to the sensor
- Log in to the sensor's local web interface by entering its IP address in your browser.
- Go to Resource → RTSP Config.
- Click the "+" button to add a file.
- Select your 792 x 604 JPG floor plan image and upload it.
Step 2: Apply the floor plan to the RTSP stream
- Navigate to Platform Integration → RTSP Settings.
- Click "Show Floor Plan" to enable the floor plan overlay.
- Select the floor plan file you just uploaded from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
Where does the floor plan appear?
The floor plan background will only appear on the RTSP stream when viewed inside a Video Management System. It will not appear on the local device dashboard — the dashboard will continue to show the standard occupancy map without a floor plan background.
What if my image isn't the right size?
The sensor requires exactly 792 x 604 pixels in JPG format. If your floor plan is a different size, you can resize it using any image editor, or ask an AI tool like Claude or ChatGPT to resize it for you. Just make sure to verify the final dimensions before uploading.
Can I use different floor plans on different sensors?
Yes. Each sensor's floor plan is configured individually through its local interface. Upload the appropriate room or area layout for each sensor's location.
