How to Configure Action Settings on Triton ULTRA
Action Settings define what happens when an event is detected — this is the "then that" half of the sensor's "if this, then that" logic. You can send emails, trigger integrations with security platforms, activate external devices, or use the sensor's built-in light ring and speaker. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

Important: Action Settings only control how alerts are delivered. The conditions that trigger those alerts are defined in Event Settings. If you haven't configured your events yet, see our How to Configure Events on Triton ULTRA guide first.
How do I access Action Settings?
- Log in to the sensor's local web interface by entering its IP address in your browser.
- Click Actions in the navigation menu.
- Click Action Settings.
You'll see a grid with each event type listed as a row and each alert method as a column. This is where you define which alert methods should fire for each event.
What alert methods are available?
Email Alerts — Send email notifications when an event is triggered. Requires SMTP to be configured first under Platform Integration → SMTP Settings. See our SMTP Configuration Guide for setup instructions.
System Integrations (HTTP/TCP/MQTT) — Trigger alerts through integration protocols to send events to your video management system (VMS), access control system, or other security platforms. These must be configured first under Platform Integration. See our Integration Configuration Guide for setup instructions.
Physical I/O Output — Activate a connected external device through the sensor's I/O port, such as a light, siren, or external speaker.
Built-In Light Ring — Flash the sensor's LED light ring in a specific color (using RGB values) when an event is triggered. Useful as a visual deterrent or to signal staff nearby.
Built-In Speaker — Play a default alert sound or a custom audio file you've uploaded to the sensor. This can serve as an audible deterrent (e.g., "Vaping has been detected in this area") or a way to alert nearby staff.
How do I configure actions for each event?
- In the Action Settings grid, find the row for the event you want to configure (e.g., Vape, Aggression, Tamper).
- Click "set" under each alert method column you want to activate for that event. For example, to get an email and flash the light ring when vaping is detected, click "set" under both the Email and Light columns for the Vape row.
- Repeat for each event type you want to configure.
- Click Save All when finished.
How do I test my action settings?
- Click Test to trigger a test event and verify that all configured alert methods fire correctly — emails are received, integrations trigger, the speaker plays, the light ring flashes, etc.
Can I use multiple alert methods for the same event?
Yes. You can enable any combination of alert methods for a single event. For example, a vape detection event can simultaneously send an email, trigger a VMS bookmark, flash the light ring red, and play a speaker announcement.
Can I upload custom audio for the speaker?
Yes. You can upload custom audio files to the sensor and assign them to specific events. This is done through the sensor's local interface under the Resources section.
