Slack Channel - Triton ULTRA Integration

Slack Channel - Triton ULTRA Integration This guide walks through how to set up a Slack channel that receives alerts directly from your Triton ULTRA sensor using the on-prem (local) integration. This does not require Triton Cloud — alerts are sent from the sensor's built-in SMTP email function to a Slack channel email address. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

How does this integration work?

Slack allows channels to receive emails, which get posted as messages. The Triton ULTRA sensor has a built-in SMTP email feature that can send alert notifications to any email address. By pointing the sensor's email alerts at a Slack channel's email address, you get real-time Triton alerts posted directly into Slack — no cloud account required.

What do I need before starting?

  • A Slack workspace where you can create channels
  • A Slack plan that supports the "Email to Channel" feature (Slack Pro, Business+, or Enterprise Grid)
  • Access to the Triton ULTRA sensor's local web interface (via its IP address)
  • SMTP credentials from your email provider (Gmail, Outlook/Office 365, etc.)

Step 1: Create a Slack Channel

  1. Open Slack and click Channels in the sidebar.
  2. Click Create Channel and choose Blank Channel, then click Next.
  3. Give it a name (e.g., "triton-alerts"), set the visibility to Public or Private based on your preference, and click Create.

Step 2: Get the Channel's Email Address

  1. Open the new channel and click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Edit Settings, then go to Integrations.
  3. Click Send emails to this channel — Slack will generate a unique email address for the channel.
  4. Copy that email address. You'll need it in the next step.

Step 3: Configure SMTP on the Triton ULTRA Sensor

  1. Log in to the sensor's local web interface by entering its IP address in your browser.
  2. Navigate to Platform Integration → SMTP Settings.
  3. Click Enable.
  4. Enter your SMTP settings based on your email provider:

Gmail:

  • Host: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port: 587
  • Security: TLS
  • User: your full Gmail address
  • Password: a Gmail App Password (not your regular password) — How to set up a Gmail App Password

Outlook / Office 365:

  1. Set the Sender to the same email as your User field.
  2. Set the Recipient to the Slack channel email address you copied earlier.
  3. Click Save, then click Test to verify the sensor can send to the Slack channel.

Step 4: Enable Alerts on the Sensor

  1. Still in the sensor's local interface, navigate to Actions → Action Settings.
  2. Click "set" under the email column for each event type you want sent to Slack (e.g., Vape, THC, Aggression, Tamper).
  3. Click Save All.

Step 5: Repeat for Additional Sensors

If you have multiple sensors, repeat Steps 3–4 for each one. To speed up deployment, you can use the Bulk Configuration feature to push SMTP and alert settings to multiple sensors at once — see the Bulk Configuration guide here.

Important: Make sure each sensor has a name set under Device Settings → Device Info so your Slack alerts indicate which sensor location triggered the event.
