How to Update Firmware on Triton ULTRA Through the On-Premise Software
Keeping your Triton ULTRA firmware up to date ensures you have the latest features, security patches, and bug fixes. You can update sensors one at a time through the local web interface, or update multiple sensors at once using the Triton Device Manager. For the full guide with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.
Check the Firmware & Device Manager page on the knowledge base for the latest firmware version and download link.
Important: If your sensor is running firmware from April 7th, 2025 (v2.3.4 in the cloud / 25.04.08 locally) or earlier, you cannot jump directly to the latest version. You must follow the step-update process using bridge files. See our Having Trouble Updating Firmware? guide for the correct update path.
Option 1: Update a single sensor via the Web GUI
- Log in to the sensor's local web interface by entering its IP address in your browser.
- Navigate to Device Settings → Upgrade.
- Click Upload and select the .bin firmware file you downloaded.
- Once the file is uploaded, click Operate to begin the update.
- The device will reboot and update — this takes approximately 5 minutes. During the update, the light ring will cycle. The device will reappear in the Triton Device Manager after about 30 seconds once complete.
Tip: After the update, clear your browser's cookies and cache if the web GUI doesn't load correctly — this is common after firmware changes.
Option 2: Update multiple sensors in bulk via the Triton Device Manager
This is the fastest method when you have many sensors to update.
- Open the Triton Device Manager and click Auto Scan under "Device Management" to discover all sensors on the network.
- After the scan completes, click Automatic under the Overview tab to save the discovered devices as a list.
- Make sure the Contact column says "OK" for each device. If it says "Auth Failed", the Device Manager password doesn't match the sensor's password — click "Default Auth PW" to update it.
- Go to the Firmware Management tab.
- Click Upload and select the latest .bin firmware file.
- Select the devices you want to upgrade (you can select all).
- Click Upgrade → Confirm.
All selected devices will update simultaneously. Each sensor takes about 4–5 minutes to complete the update.
What should I do after updating?
- Verify the firmware version by logging into the sensor's web GUI or checking the device in Triton Cloud.
- Clear your browser cache if the local web interface looks off after the update.
- If you're updating from a very old firmware version and the update fails or the web GUI goes blank or you get a capi error after refreshing, see our Having Trouble Updating Firmware? guide — you may need to follow the bridge file update path or contact Triton Support for a recovery script.
