How to Update Firmware Through Triton Cloud

Triton Cloud lets you update firmware on your Triton ULTRA sensors remotely — either one at a time or across multiple devices at once — without needing physical access to the sensor or using the local web interface. This is the easiest way to keep your sensors up to date. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

Important: The sensor must be online in Triton Cloud for the firmware update to work. If the device is showing as offline, the cloud cannot push the update. You'll need to resolve the connectivity issue first — see our How to Troubleshoot Offline Sensors guide. If you can't get the device online in the cloud, you can update firmware locally instead — see our How to Update Firmware Through the On-Premise Software guide.

Also important: If your sensor is running firmware from April 7th, 2025 (v2.3.4 in the cloud / 25.04.08 locally) or earlier, you may not be able to jump directly to the latest version. See our Having Trouble Updating Firmware? guide for the correct step-update path.

How do I update firmware through Triton Cloud?

  1. Log in to Triton Cloud.
  2. Go to Device Management.
  3. Click Action → Edit on the device you want to update.
  4. Scroll down to the firmware section and select the latest firmware version from the dropdown.

Can I update one sensor or multiple at the same time?

You have two options:

  • Single device: Deploy the firmware to just the one sensor you're editing.
  • Multiple devices: Use the dropdown to select additional devices and push the same firmware version to all of them at once.
  1. Click Save to deploy the firmware.

How long does the update take?

Allow at least one hour for the update to apply, especially when doing bulk updates across many sensors. The sensors will download and install the firmware in the background.

How do I verify the update was successful?

  1. Go to Device Management in Triton Cloud.
  2. Check the Current Firmware column for each device — it should show the new version.

Tip: The firmware version in the cloud may take a little while to refresh. You can also verify by logging into the sensor's local web interface (via its IP address) and checking Device Settings → Device Info.

What if the firmware update fails or doesn't apply?

If the firmware doesn't update or fails to load, try rebooting the device through Triton Cloud:

  1. Click into the device on the Devices page.
  2. Click Controls.
  3. Click Reboot to restart a single device, or Reboot All Devices to restart all sensors at once.

The device must show as live under connectivity status and be online for the reboot command to work. If the sensor is offline, you cannot reboot it through the cloud — you'll need to physically power cycle it or troubleshoot the connection.
