How to Use the Bulk Configuration Feature on Triton ULTRA
The Bulk Configuration feature lets you set up one Triton ULTRA sensor exactly how you want it, then copy that configuration to all your other sensors — saving significant time during deployment. Instead of manually configuring event settings, action settings, SMTP, and alert rules on every device, you export a config file from one sensor and upload it to the rest. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

What gets copied and what doesn't?
The bulk configuration copies settings that should be consistent across all sensors, including event settings, action settings, SMTP configuration, alert rules, and config page settings.
The following settings are unique to each device and will not be copied: device name/location, network configuration (IP address, static IP settings), and platform integration settings (HTTP/TCP/MQTT connection details). These need to be configured individually on each sensor.
Part 1: Download the Configuration from Your Template Sensor
Start by fully configuring one sensor the way you want all your sensors set up — event thresholds, action settings, SMTP, alert schedules, etc. Once it's ready:
- Log in to the sensor's local web interface by entering its IP address in your browser.
- Click Device Settings in the navigation menu.
- Click Config.
- Click Download Config.
This will generate a .tar file containing the current configuration. Your browser may flag the download — click "Keep" to save it.
Tip: Make sure the sensor is fully configured before downloading. Not all settings are included in the export (device name, network config, and platform integrations are excluded), so verify everything else is set the way you want it.
Part 2: Upload the Configuration to Other Sensors
You have two options for applying the config file:
Option A: Upload to a single sensor via the Web GUI
This is easier when you only have a few sensors to configure.
- Log in to the target sensor's local web interface.
- Go to Device Settings → Config.
- Click Upload Config and select the .tar file you downloaded.
- Review the list of configurations that will be updated.
- Click OK to apply. The settings from the .tar file will overwrite the matching settings on this device.
Option B: Upload to multiple sensors via Triton Device Manager (recommended)
This is the fastest method for large deployments.
- Open the Triton Device Manager and run Auto Scan to discover all sensors on the network.
- Go to the Config Management tab.
- Upload the .tar config file and select the devices you want to apply it to.
- Apply the configuration to all selected devices at once.
Do I still need to configure anything on each sensor individually?
Yes. After applying the bulk config, you'll still need to set the following on each sensor individually:
- Device name/location — under Device Settings → Device Info. See our How To Re-Name A Triton ULTRA Sensor guide.
- Network settings — if you're assigning static IPs, each sensor needs its own. See our Static IP Guide.
- Platform integrations — HTTP/TCP/MQTT connection details are specific to each sensor's integration setup.
