Microsoft Teams - Triton Cloud Integration

This guide walks through how to set up a Microsoft Teams channel that receives alerts from your Triton sensors through Triton Cloud. Unlike the on-prem integration, this method uses Triton Cloud's built-in alerting system — no SMTP configuration required on the sensor itself. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

How does this integration work?

Microsoft Teams channels can receive emails, which get posted as messages. In Triton Cloud, you create a Contact using the Teams channel's email address, then assign that contact as a recipient on your alert rules. When a sensor triggers an event, Triton Cloud sends the alert email to the Teams channel automatically.

What do I need before starting?

Step 1: Navigate to a Sensor's Alert Settings

  1. Log in to Triton Cloud and go to the Devices page.
  2. Click on the sensor you want to receive Teams alerts for.
  3. Click on the alert widget for the event type you want to configure (e.g., Vape, Aggression, etc.).

Step 2: Add the Teams Contact to the Alert

  1. Click the gear icon to open the notification settings for that alert.
  2. Click Add Contact.
  3. From the dropdown, select the Teams contact (this is the contact you created using the Teams channel email address).
  4. Choose Text-Based Email as the notification method — this ensures the alert formats cleanly in Teams.

Step 3: Copy to Other Devices

  1. Use the "Copy This Rule to the Following Devices" dropdown to select which other sensors should receive the same alert rule and Teams notification.
  2. Click Save.

Do I need to repeat this for every alert type?

Yes — each alert type (Vape, THC, Gunshot, Aggression, etc.) has its own notification settings. Repeat Steps 3–9 for each event type you want sent to Teams. The good news is you can copy each rule to all devices at once, so you only have to configure each alert type once.

How do I test it?

After saving, trigger a test event and confirm the alert appears in your Teams channel. If it doesn't come through, double-check that the contact email matches the Teams channel email and that the contact is assigned to an active alert type with Text-Based Email selected.
