Axis Camera Station - Triton Cloud Integration

This guide walks through how to integrate Triton sensors with Axis Camera Station (ACS) through Triton Cloud. Once configured, sensor events are sent to ACS and trigger the actions you define. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

What does this integration do?

Triton Cloud sends selected sensor events to Axis Camera Station using an External HTTPS trigger. When ACS receives an event, it runs the actions configured for that sensor's action rule, according to the rule's schedule. This lets your team monitor and respond to Triton sensor events within ACS.

Note: This integration supports one rule per Triton device. Configure the actions you want for each sensor within that rule.

What do I need before starting?
  • A Triton Cloud account with your sensors already added
  • Axis Camera Station installed on a Windows machine
  • Administrator access to the Windows machine and Axis Camera Station
  • The Triton Device ID for each sensor you want to integrate
  • The local IP address of the ACS server and your network's public IP address
  • Access to your router or firewall settings to configure port forwarding

Note: Port forwarding is required for the setup described in this guide. Coordinate this step with your IT team. The Windows account instructions below are for Windows 11.

Part 1: Create a Windows Account for the Integration
  1. On the Windows machine running Axis Camera Station, open Settings → Accounts using an account with administrator privileges.
  2. Select Other users, then Add account.
  3. Click I don't have this person's sign-in information, then Add a user without a Microsoft account.
  4. Enter tritonultra as the username and create a secure password.
  5. Complete the security questions and finish creating the account.

Keep these credentials available. You will enter them in Triton Cloud later.

Part 2: Add the Account to Axis Camera Station
  1. In Axis Camera Station, open the Configuration tab.
  2. Under Security, select User Permissions.
  3. Click Add..., select the tritonultra account you created, and click Add.
  4. Assign the account the Administrator role in ACS.
  5. Click Save.
Part 3: Create an Action Rule for Each Sensor
  1. In ACS, open Configuration → Recording and Events → Action Rules.
  2. Click New..., then Add... to add a trigger.
  3. Select External HTTPS and click OK.
  4. Name the trigger using this exact format: Triton Sensors <DEVICE ID>. Replace <DEVICE ID> with the sensor's Device ID from Triton Cloud. For example: Triton Sensors 123456789012.
  5. Configure the actions you want ACS to perform and the schedule for the rule.
  6. Click Finish.

Repeat for each Triton sensor you want to integrate, using that sensor's Device ID in its trigger name.

Part 4: Set Up Port Forwarding
  1. Open your router or firewall's configuration page.
  2. Find the Port Forwarding settings. Depending on your equipment, these may be under Advanced Settings, NAT, or Firewall.
  3. Create a port forwarding rule using the settings below.
Setting Value
Service name TritonACS
External port An available external port, such as 443 if it is not already in use
Internal IP address The local IP address of the Windows machine running ACS
Internal port 55756, as used in the Scribe setup
Protocol TCP

Save the rule and apply the changes. Restart the router only if your equipment requires it.

Important: If your ACS installation uses a custom port, confirm the correct internal port before creating the rule. In Triton Cloud, enter the external port you configured, which may differ from the internal port.

Part 5: Configure the Integration in Triton Cloud
  1. Log in to Triton Cloud and navigate to Integrations.
  2. Select Axis Camera Station.
  3. Enter your network's public IP address and the external port from your port forwarding rule.
  4. Enter the username and password for the tritonultra Windows account.
  5. At the top of the integration page, select the metrics you want to send to ACS.
  6. Click Save.
Part 6: Run a Test
  1. From the Axis Camera Station integration overview in Triton Cloud, click Run Test.
  2. Select the Triton device and metric you want to test.
  3. Click Run Test to send the test event.
  4. Confirm that Triton Cloud displays a success message.
  5. In ACS, verify that the actions configured for the sensor's rule occur.

If the test fails, use the error message to troubleshoot. Check that:

  • The Windows account credentials are correct and the account has the Administrator role in ACS.
  • The public IP address and external port in Triton Cloud match your network configuration.
  • The port forwarding rule points to the correct ACS server and internal port.
  • The External HTTPS trigger name matches Triton Sensors <DEVICE ID> for the sensor you are testing.
  • The rule's actions and schedule are configured for the response you expect.
