VideoInsight 8 (i-PRO) - Triton Cloud Integration

This guide walks through how to integrate Triton sensors with i-PRO Video Insight 8 (VI8) through Triton Cloud. Once configured, Triton sensor events will trigger alerts, bookmark camera footage, and populate the Evidence Room in Video Insight 8 for incident review. For a visual step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots, follow the Scribe guide linked below.

What does this integration do?

When a Triton sensor detects an event (like vaping, THC, aggression, or a keyword), Triton Cloud sends that alert to Video Insight 8. The integration supports two types of camera mapping — Bookmark Camera IDs for associating alerts with actual camera footage, and Event Camera IDs for associating alerts with the Triton sensor's occupancy RTSP stream recorded through VI8. You can also set up event rules in VI8 to trigger live alarm windows and create alert rules for each event type. The integration also works with Triton Cloud's Evidence Room, which lets you review camera footage, occupancy footage, and sensor metrics from the time of the alert all in one place.

What do I need before starting?
  • A Triton Cloud account with your sensors already added
  • A Video Insight 8 server — installed, licensed, and accessible
  • The domain/IP address, port, and protocol (HTTP or HTTPS) of your VI8 server
  • Login credentials for your VI8 server
  • Camera IDs from the VI8 client for the cameras you want to pair with Triton sensors

Part 1: Authenticate Triton Cloud with Video Insight 8

  1. Log in to Triton Cloud and navigate to the Video Insight 8 integration page (or go directly to app.tritonsensors.com/client/integration?current=video_insight_8).
  2. Enter the domain or IP address of your Video Insight server (no protocol needed — just the address, e.g., 192.168.1.100 or demo.yourcompany.com).
  3. Enter the port (use 443 for HTTPS or 80 for HTTP if your server doesn't use a custom port).
  4. Select the protocol (HTTP or HTTPS) that matches your VI8 server configuration.
  5. Enter the username and password you use to log in to Video Insight.
  6. Click Login to Video Insight 8.
  7. Confirm you see success messages in the bottom-right corner of the page before continuing.

Part 2: Get Camera IDs and Map Them to Triton Sensors

Getting the Bookmark Camera ID:

  1. Open the Video Insight 8 Client and find the camera you want to associate with a Triton sensor.
  2. Right-click on the camera and select Properties.
  3. Double-click the Camera ID field and copy it (Ctrl+C).
  4. Back in Triton Cloud on the VI8 integration page, paste the Camera ID into the Bookmark Camera ID field next to the corresponding Triton Device ID.
  5. Repeat for any additional camera/sensor pairs.
  6. Click Save.

Note: You'll also need the Event Camera ID if you want to associate the Triton RTSP occupancy stream (recorded as a camera in VI8) with the sensor. The Event Camera ID is found the same way — right-click the Triton sensor camera in VI8, open Properties, and copy its Camera ID. Paste it into the Event Camera ID field in Triton Cloud.

Part 3: Set Up Event Rules in Video Insight 8

  1. In the Video Insight 8 Client, click Administration.
  2. Navigate to Rules and click the + button to create a new rule.
  3. Name the rule using the format: event type + sensor name (e.g., "Triton Boys Bathroom 11 THC Detection").
  4. Set the trigger source to Enhanced System Input.
  5. Select the Triton Sensor you want the rule to apply to.
  6. In the Category field, type the exact event name as it appears in Triton Cloud. This is case-sensitive — for example, use "THC" not "thc", "Vape" not "vape".
  7. Under Actions, select your preferred response — we recommend Live Alarm Window, which pops up a live camera feed when an alert is triggered.
  8. Choose the camera you want to display in the live alarm window (we recommend the Triton sensor camera for occupancy context).
  9. Enter a message body for the alarm notification.
  10. Set the Trigger Wait Time — this defines how long the system waits before re-triggering. We recommend less than 5 minutes.
  11. Click Save.

Repeat for each event type (Vape, THC, Aggression, GSD, etc.) and each sensor.

Part 4: Run a Test

  1. On the VI8 integration page in Triton Cloud, click Run Test.
  2. Select the device you configured camera IDs for.
  3. Select the trigger type that matches a Category you set up in your VI8 event rules.
  4. Click Run Test.
  5. Confirm you see "Event successfully triggered" in Triton Cloud, and verify the live alarm window pops up in the VI8 Client.
  6. Check the Bookmarks section in VI8 to confirm a bookmark was created for the test event.

Part 5: Integrate TKA (Triton Keyword Assist) — Optional

If you're using Triton Keyword Assist (TKA) and want keyword alerts to trigger in VI8:

  1. In Triton Cloud, go to the Devices page and click on the sensor.
  2. Click Alerts and confirm Keyword Assist is enabled.
  3. Click the gear icon on the Keyword Assist alert and copy the TKA value shown.
  4. Navigate to Integrations on that device and confirm Keyword Assist is enabled under the Behavior dropdown.
  5. In the VI8 Client, create a new event rule following the same process as Part 3, but set the Category to the TKA value you copied from Triton Cloud.

Part 6: Use the Evidence Room

The Evidence Room in Triton Cloud lets you review alerts alongside video footage from your VMS — all in one place.

  1. In Triton Cloud, click Evidence Room.
  2. Select Video Insight 8 from the VMS dropdown.
  3. Select an alert to review. The Evidence Room will display:
    • Camera footage from the Bookmark Camera ID (the actual camera near the sensor)
    • Occupancy footage from the Event Camera ID (the Triton RTSP stream recorded in VI8)
    • Sensor metrics at the time of the alert (air quality, sound level, etc.)

By default, the Evidence Room pulls 2.5 minutes of video before and after the alert was triggered. You can filter alerts by event type and date using the dropdown filters.

Note: If no recordings are stored in your VI8 system for the alert's time range, you'll see a "No recordings available" message.
